![]() Still, for most people, I'd recommend The 48 Laws of Power first and foremost because it covers a broader ground. I memorized a third of a page in that book so I will eternally have them in my head and soul. That's why The 33 Strategies of War spoke deeply to me. ![]() I'm just glad I was given proper education and proper grooming to be civil with my inner aggression. ![]() When you grow up like that, you become a crazy savage. I spent most of my life dealing with people who beat me down, unfortunately sometimes literally. If a young person grows up not learning these essential (and unspoken) rules of the global arena, they are fucked. It's a dog-eat-dog world where the weapons of combat are subtlety and mental sharpness. Life is essentially a battlefield full of people who want to take advantage of you. Instead, children should learn social skills and all that jazz. Unfortunately, some people learn violence and end up in prison. It is a necessary part of their development. There's a passage in the very early parts of 33 where he referenced Jean Piaget (renowned child psychologist) about how children literally only grow up and mature after they learn how to deal with conflicts among their peers. ![]()
